    Wharfedale

pre-Diamond is probably before many forum posters were born. I still use my wharfedale 1s as computer monitors, but after nearly 40 years I do prefer other speakers. Even so, a simple chord mojo plus early wharfedale speakers, will still kick the ass of most other computer monitors.

    Quadraphonic Recordings?

More importantly, are you a dealer in hand sanitizer?

    Focal Aria Dilemma

I had intended to get some 926, but saw a dealer with the 936 on a promotion for the walnut finish, which meant the price difference with the 926 was negligible, so I ordered the 936 because I expected that the improved bass response (in the specs), would avoid the need to consider a subwoofer...

Question Anyone been Black Friday Shopping?

Not yet, but I have identified a few items that I might buy tomorrow.

Chord Hugo M Scaler, nonsense or worth buying?

There are nearly 10,000 posts abbout the MScaler on this forum https://www.head-fi.org/threads/hugo-m-scaler-by-chord-electronics-the-official-thread.885042/ I haven't bought one yet, but it has been on my shopping list for over a year so far.

Question Which DAC should I get?

I have a Mojo, and suggest you try and demo one. When it was first released, there were many posts about guys visiting dealers for a demo, but not expecting in advance to buy one. Virtually everyone posted back that once they heard the Mojo, it was no contest to buy one on the spot.

    Arcam Solo Movie speakers

I have an old Solo neo, and that came with Monitor Audio speakers. I was quite happy with them, but eventually I concluded that they lacked bass for some music, such as jazz. So i spotted a pair of Focal Aria 936 in a sale, and bought them. They work well with the Arcam, and do extend the bass...

Has Anyone Ever Built Their Own Speakers?

There was some talk about DIY speakers and veneers on the IPL speakers thread a while back. I think this supplier of kits was highly recommended http://www.troelsgravesen.dk/Diy_Loudspeaker_Projects.htm Alternatively have a look on Pinterest, because there are lots of pictures about...

    Chord Mojo

I think that there are probably a few comparisons in this thread http://www.head-fi.org/t/749582/chord-electronics-2qute-dac-announced In general the 2qute has some advantages for desktop use (eg galvanic isolation), and was usually reported to sound better than the mojo. A word of caution is...

    Chord Mojo

No, but Chord are investigating the inclusion of hardware MQA decoding in some of their products. Bear in mind that MQA decoding takes place on two levels, level one can be performed via an app (eg phone, then streamed to the mojo), but higher levels require hardware decoding.

    Oppo pm3

There are many happy users of the Mojo and Hugo with the PM3. I would love to hear them just for comparison. Here are a few filtered posts from the Mojo thread on HeadFi...

Focal Elear Around-Ear Open-Back Stereo Headphone review

Interesting review Dale. I have been considering the Elear as my next headphone upgrade, but first I need my wallet to recover after just buying a pair of AK T8Ie Mk2 for Christmas. In an ideal world I would prefer the Utopia (the frequency response graphs seem slightly better for the Utopia)...

Looking for decent over the ear headphones to replace sennheiser IE7

Maybe you should wait until the january sales - there is no need to buy at inflated christmas prices. Also follow this forum thread, because a few gems often appear at sales time. http://www.head-fi.org/t/530008/the-eu-deals-thread/1425

    Has the forum died?

I would like to thank DDC for making the effort. You were rather confrontational when you first started posting, but noticeably changed your style, and are now an approachable and knowledgeable source of advice on several areas that are often asked about - especially small desktop speakers, and...
