Is a 4k projector really necessary

In short, no it is not. I have one at home and I can just as easily live with 1080p. The difference in quality does not justify the price jump as there isnt a wow factor. Even when talking about HDR, I have found the projectors to be poor in this regard as they simply are not bright enough. I am...

Is there such a thing as an Atmos test disc?

If you speak to Dolby very nicely they may send you a demo disc. It's worth a shot as I did that at the Sound and Vision show and they popped one in the post. You will be able to tell immediately if Atmos is working with the A/B demonstrations. As for output, use the AV to check all channels...

Is Saving Private Ryan a must for 4K Blu-ray?

If you are asking whether 4k vs 1080p on a decent projector or TV is worth it, I would have to say no. There isnt enough in picture quality between them to justify it. Now if you are talking about HDR, then yes the difference is greater, but is it still worth buying if you already own it? I...

Are SPL meters and phone apps accurate for setting subwoofer levels?

Avoid apps they are not accurate in comparision to a good mic and SPL setup.

Upgrading Monitor Audio Apex 9.1 to Atmos 9.1.2 setup

I wouldnt concern myself too much as they are only effect speakers. Just buy any monitor audio ceiling speakers that your budget can afford and you are good to go.

Ditch 4K native projector for HDR?

So it seems the general consenseus is to hold fire and not change the projector. I will be holding on for now until they release something that is bright enough and native 4K.

Ditch 4K native projector for HDR?

Hi Guys, Not posted in a while, but I figured now is a good time as any to come back. :) So I have a dilemma and I find myself in two minds Should I go ahead and change my Sony VW500ES projector for an Epson 9300 projector? My current projector is 4K native, with not HDR, while the Epson has...

    My cinema room & HiFi

My bank account winced ;) it is 100% worth it SJ I went thought a very painstaking process of sound proofing this room. It is a room within a room, so you go through two doors before getting in. I live in a terrace house, so you can imagine my concern with those monsters (F212's). Lets just...

    My cinema room & HiFi

To answer the quesiton about music. The system performs very well with music. While It was not the primary reason for me, movies are the focus - you won't find this setup lacking in detail. Of course, a dedicated HiFi setup of a similar price range would beat it. It would be interesting to...

    My cinema room & HiFi

Yep acoustically transparent and I have just finihsed putting up the Black devore Velvet wall for the screen area. The Fathoms are something else BB. In Prometheus there is a shotgun blast when the engineer first emerges - believe me when I tell you, it feels like you get shot!. If you are...

    DTS x flexible speaker placement

Correct and I just hope the 7702 gets it or I will have to upgrade so soon! While the 8802 will be getting, Marantz have not denied or confirmed anything with regards to the 7702. Would make sense for it not to have DTS X and HDCP 2.2, otherwise how will they sell the 8802! Slightly off topic...

    Which speakers?

Is it possible to have a demo of them? The difference you hear will be minimal. I would go for the one that you feel is more in line with your budget.

    My cinema room & HiFi

Thank you all, It does bring me great joy. I had to make sure this room was well sound proofed too. The walls are 1ft thick to prevent sound leakage disturbing the Neighbours. After 6 months, no complaints so far :)
