Forget the Pixel Fold, I want Google to build an AirPods Max rival

Given the poor sound quality offered by YouTube Music, I can't think of any reason why Google would want to do this. Better headphones will only reveal to their customers how bad their music offering is and push them into the arms of Qobuz, Tidal or Amazon.

    Pro-Ject Debut 3SE 78rpm

That really does help. Thanks for the tip. :)

    Anybody been Record Shopping today?

I went to my local HMV to get the Alice Jemima debut album on vinyl...only to discover they didn't have it. It seems like they only have the best-sellers in stock and everything else is order in through their web site. So I did...it's too good to miss. :)

    Pro-Ject Debut 3SE 78rpm

Thanks for the great feedback. You're quite right about increasing the tracking force - the OM Stylus 78 recommends 2g and that seemed to work well for my 78's which are in pretty good condition - but I also found I needed to reduce the anti-skate bias to stop the stylus flying off if I missed...

    Pro-Ject Debut 3SE 78rpm

I swapped the 33/45 pulley on my Pro-Ject Debut III/SE for the 33/78 version and also added an Ortofon Stylus 78 so that I could play my wife's collection of 78rpm records. Has anyone else had experience of using this kit? The pulley is easy to swap but the belt is much wider and flatter...

    Speakers for Audiolab M-PWR

Just to close this thread for anyone else looking for the same, I auditioned the Monitor Audio Bronze 2, Wharfedale Diamond 220, and Dali Zensor 1. After two hours of listening (and didn't that time just fly by!) my conclusions were as follows: The Dali's needed some room to breathe, as...

    Speakers for Audiolab M-PWR

Of course the M-CDT is just a transport so it's arguable how much difference it makes to the sound, but aesthetically it does look very nice underneath the M-DAC. The slot-loading mechanism is very noisy when inserting or ejecting a CD, but otherwise it's silent in operation. Another observation...

    Speakers for Audiolab M-PWR

Thanks for the great suggestions. It's good to hear from someone with real experience of an M-PWR. M-CDT is like hen's teeth! I had one on order from my local Audio-T but after waiting nearly three months I saw an ex-demo unit being sold by Sevenoaks S&V in Norwich so I snapped it up and...

    Speakers for Audiolab M-PWR

Thanks for all the great suggestions. Floorstanders would be too much for my small room (visually as well as aurally), and I'll happily sacrifice some bass response in favour of a more precise soundstage so stand-mounters are definitely my preference. My budget should include stands so the...

    Speakers for Audiolab M-PWR

I'm after some suggestions for suitable speakers to partner with my Audiolab mini-system (M-CDT + M-DAC + M-PWR). My listening room is quite small (13' x 11') so I'm looking for stand-mounters that will behave themselves close to a wall, and the M-PWR doesn't support bi-wiring so that's not a...
