Yamaha RXV-A820 decided, but which speakers MA BX series or RX?

OK RX it is - to be honest I'd more or less decided to spend the bit extra, I hate that I can't listen to them in person but people seem to have nothing bad to say about them. On the 820 versus 1010/2010 what do you think? The decision might be made for me if I can't find the 2010/1010...

Yamaha RXV-A820 decided, but which speakers MA BX series or RX?

Thanks for your useful comments guys, room size is about 410 cm deep by 410 cm wide but open at one side into a dining area / kitchen, ultimately (when some work done on house) might move into a bigger room - this is like a family room. The 820 looks like a stunning amp, but some people saying...

Receiver recommendations for mordauntshort Avaino 8

Just reading these forums now jyl, was considering the 820 myself, but wondering whether to spend themoney on an older model and get an A1010 or even A2010, I already have Apple TV so Airplay not a problem and don't need 4K - think this was all they really added? Having said that for support...

Yamaha RXV-A820 decided, but which speakers MA BX series or RX?

Folks I've been on here before looking at the cheaper award winnnd 673 amp from Yamaha but decided against in the end, not for any reason other than I need to guarentee what I get is good for music as well as whang bang cinema effects and the Aventage amps seem to get great write ups. Problem...

First AV setup, music important - have 20yo Pioneer A300X / Tannoy Mercury M2 currently..!!

Hi there I have a very old Pioneer A300X / Tannoy Mercury M2 combo currently hooked up to a Pioneer Kuro telly used mostly for Blue Ray and Sky HD. The amp is understandably showing it's age (joke in there I know) and it's beginning to fail, occasionly the left channel needs "tweaked" to get it...

Pioneer Priced themselves out of the market?

    That's the 720p PX70 and not the 1080p PZ70...

    Pioneer 428xd & Panasonic 42PZ70 - 1024x768 res v 1080p and *games* (x360 + PS3)

Folks if anyone still cares I thought I'd update on this. I ended up going for the 4280xd, partly because I believed that people were correct on the whole 720p versus 1080p debate for 42" screens. I can report back that the 4280xd is an truly wonderful bit of kit. I though that no flat panel...

    SKYHD Vs Standard SKY

I think it's down to the bitrate used when transmitting some channels, higher bitrate equals less compression and less digital artifacts (MPEG style "blocking" and pixelation)

    Pioneer 428xd & Panasonic 42PZ70 - 1024x768 res v 1080p and *games* (x360 + PS3)

...and just to clarify, that's *if* I plump for the Pioneer, I've not made my mind up yet, waiting for the hdtvtest of the Pana PZ70, especially with respect to SD broadcasts which are still important to me.

    Pioneer 428xd & Panasonic 42PZ70 - 1024x768 res v 1080p and *games* (x360 + PS3)

I think it will be the 4280 if anything that I'll go for, I just don't like the idea of shelling out an additional £200 for a *stand*, seems like a bit of a rip off to me. The 4280 doesn't have the light sensor, PIP or calibration but from reviews it's just as good as the 428, can someone...

    Pioneer 428xd & Panasonic 42PZ70 - 1024x768 res v 1080p and *games* (x360 + PS3)

I noticed that www.hdtvtest.co.uk now has the first two pages of the Panasonic 42PZ70 review completed. Looking forward to Vincent's full review to see what it's like after calibration

    Pioneer 428xd & Panasonic 42PZ70 - 1024x768 res v 1080p and *games* (x360 + PS3)

I'm torn between two TV's at the moment, the Pioneer 428xd "Kuro" and the Panasonic TH-42PZ70, both on the face of it seem like excellent TV's and both are within my budget. However I have a dilema, I know that "resolution is not everything" and fully appreciate what everyone has to say about...

    WHICH TV???

Oh and you could save money possibly by going for the earlier non-100Hz model (M87 from memory) of the Samsung because this review (http://www.hdtvtest.co.uk/Samsung-LE40F86BD/) says it can cause it's own artifacts - however the same review likes the extra black/shadow detail.... suppose you...
