    Spendor a5

Yes, I have owned these speakers, I would describe the sound as a little laid back, fairly warm sounding, perhaps lack a little excitement. Plenty of bass for a small speaker and built like tanks. You could listen to these forever without any chance of fatigue, probably go well with a class D...

Dali Oberon 5 or dali sensor 7

I agree, bought a pair of these on Amazon and after a week I sent them back, just a shade to bright for me as well. If I were you I would sell them on, especially if you like the Rega. I wasn't a fan of the finish either, they looked and felt a little cheap.

Kef R3 or Acoustic Energy AE1 Active

One thing to consider, with actives there is not much of an upgrade path. Maybe that floats your boat, never heard either but I would go with the R3's because I like swapping kit. Good luck

Question Marantz model 30 with klh model 5.. match or no match?

I have the KLH model 5 speakers, my current system is the NAD C658 pre amplifier and a Primare A 30.2 power amplifier which sounds great. I recently partnered them with the NAD C298 power amplifier (class d) and the sound was fatiguing, the amplifier was too transparent and revealing. My...

Question Fighting with amp upgrade (Focal speakers)

My understanding is that Focal are quite a forward / bright sounding speaker, personally .... I would be wary of matching with class d amplification which can be very transparent and a touch analytical. Good luck

Question Floor standing vs Book shelf

There is no replacement for displacement. So get really big stand mount speakers. I have KLH model 5's and they easily compete with a comparably sized floorstander suitable for my listening room.

    New power amplifier purchased

Sounds like a good synergy, it certainly has the sparkle and is very transparent, shame it didn't work out for me. Enjoy.

    New power amplifier purchased

I have just returned a NAD C 298 power amplifier after a week of use. I was hoping it was going to sound great with my KLH model 5's but it just didn't have the right synergy. I bought it through Sevenoaks online store and was able to return it to the shop get a refund, which was quite...

Long time since I brought HiFi - advice needed

I would go for used speakers, and probably buy new electronics as this can be a bit of a risk.

New Rega amplifier, or rather an update

Class D has many benefits, but they can sound a little cold and analytical.

Question Is it time to retire my aging but still functional Mission 773's?

A home audition has much greater value than listening at a retailers. After all, you will only hear what the speakers sound like in their demo room, bearing in mind the room has great impact on what you will hear. Good luck.

    NJC Reference DAC experiences?

If it brings you closer to hifi nirvana all power to you, hope it works out for you.

    NJC Reference DAC experiences?

As somebody who really can't discern hardly any difference between dac's, if any at all ..... and I have tried. What differences are you hearing? Perhaps you could do some blind testing between the node and your new one. I really wanted to believe all the hype around dacs, for me, it really...

Proac Response range vs Larger speakers

Listening in your own home is a must, otherwise it could be an expensive gamble. I never see much value in auditioning at a retailer when the room has such a significant impact on the sound. Good luck
