I have put my phone on every turntable that I have had without problems using the RPM app.

The nice thing about the Thorens it has a headshell now instead of the old fixed one which makes it versatile if you like changing between cartridges.

I was told that burn in for a phono stage is nonsense but who knows.

My speakers have got a built in amp but I still use a phono stage between the turntable and speakers. Otherwise your speakers must have a built in phono stage or you would't be able to play the turntable through them. I can hear a humming sound as well like you get from a bad earth.

Has the turntable got it's own phono stage?
