On my LP120XUSB my arm was decending way too quickly onto the record but it was an easy fix with silicone oil after that it goes down perfectly thanks to good old youtube.

I believe that the LP-8 is in another league. I can see from your signiture that you have RigB'd your cartridges that has also improved the sound of my AT turntable not many people know on this forum about the RigB and would be quick to dismiss them.
My point is with your experience of sound and turntables you have made do with a lesser turntable and you are happy with it so it shows that some Chinese turntables are acceptable. Yes AT is Japanese but has most of it's turntables are made in China. I find my AT turntable to be of a decent...

Get a phono stage similar to this one. On the back of your turntable there is a switch for the built in phono stage switch it to Line and then connect the turntable to the external phono stage and then you should be able to listen through your headphones.Here is an Amazon link...
A guy on another forum mentioned a £400 turntable said it was a bargain costing the same as a night out. I replied to him and said it's a good job I don't go out anymore then. He laughed
