Noise canx headphones - just the base unit, not the earpieces?

Most of the noise cancelling 'phones seem to use a little box of tricks dangling around your neck - is there any reason why makers couldn't just do this unit but allow you to plug your own choice of headphones into the unit, or am I been a bit naive here? Unless someone could suggest said...

    USB cables

Yes, agree with jimwall. USB transmits digital information so theoretically it shouldn't add an 'colour', or 'bass' or anything like that to the ones and zeros it's firing down the wire.

Pity Squeezebox only runs on slimserver what are my other options

I've got a Lacie too and in the same position. Sonos is the obvious choice and after Christmas rush/money pit I'll probably be going down that line - it'll use the NAS without needing the PC needing to be left on. The techy-geek side in me is thinking of a small PC (or maybe Mac Mini) that I...

    what media center?

I'm looking at this myself in a similar vein - have a look at the TViX range - they are basically PVRs that'll handle HD output - they have a HDMI output on the top models and will play many video and audio formats. http://www.kjglobal.co.uk/acatalog/TVIX_M5100.html...

How to connect a TV, DVD home cinema & Sky+box wirelessly?

You can get wireless video senders though the quality will be pretty poor to be honest. And you'll need receiver box plugged in beside the TV and leads running up to it (including the power lead for the TV) so I'm presuming that's what you were trying to avoid in the first place. The obvious...

Soft and squidgy, or hard and pointy?

The normal speaker set-up normally revolves around pointy floor spikes, solid metal supports and solid speaker interface (spikes or blutack). Anyone tried using foculpods/polipods under speakers? Feel free to laugh....

    Wireless without a network?

The Powerline is a good option if you want to transmit your files downstairs - they are literally plug and play - one into the ethernet port of the PC (and into the pwer socket...) and the other in a plug beside your hifi - then you'll just need some little media player (squeezebox et al) to...

    recording music

Your other option is to use your PC/Mac to burn the CDs. I'm pretty sure there are options to connect your turntable to the PC for recording purposes. Once your Lps are digitally on your hardrive you can create CDs at will.

Good 2.1 PC speakers in UK under £70?

How about the Cyruslink Link Mini 2? If you've got an iPod then you get to use the dock too! Amazon have them for £61.51 post free which seems a reasonable bargain.

AudioEngine 2 speakers in the UK?

The AudioEngine5 speakers have be getting some good reviews wherever I look, but probably overkill for my PC/desk. Though tempting for my Sonos 'christmas wishlist' system. I notice on their website they have a smaller sibling, the cunningly named Audioengine'2'. Anyone know if we're going to...

    Anyone got an Arcam rDock?

I've just picked up an rDock from the local shop, the (shocking) instructions seem to imply there should be some sort of insert that fits into the docking well, presumably for my particular type of iPod - there are none of these in the box. Is this the case? Am I missing something before I get...

CD player suggestions for my Eclipse amp

Always lovely the idea of the Eclipse A502 amp so I've taken the plunge and bought one off eBay. Now I'm after a suitable CD player that hopefully combines some nice aesthetics and decent sound quality. A Cyrus CD6 is the same kinda size. Is there anything else out there with some funky looks...
