Thank you for your advice, I will look into the soundbar option, I think that there may be a gap in the market for this type of need. The same applies to telephones, for which there is not much choice for the older consumer.

My Mum needs a tv for the kitchen, and the quality of speakers with sound projection is most important. She has an old Samsung flat screen about 26inch I think, but the sound is really tinny, and I think it would help if the sound was at the front, but I'm really not sure. A reasonally good make...

Mum has suddenly lost most of her hearing and she really relies on her tv. Until her hearing aids are sorted, I need to get her a tv with good speakers. I would appreciate some advice. Thank you. *smile*

Thank you for your advice. I'm still open to ideas....I'm not sure that I want a smart tv or 3D. I've read that Pioneer are re-introducing their t.v.sales into the Scandinavian countries, but the UK is not till next year.....but timing for me :doh:

Thank you for the advice. I can go up to £1500, I don't want too many bells and whistles, just a great picture and sound.

:help: I have sound but no picture. Have been told that it is probably a Power Supply problem, but may also turn out to be something else. Initial cost of this is £500 (!) may be more if something else is found faulty. My set is about 10 years old now. Should I go ahead as it is a wonderful...
