Basically the only difference between the dm38 & dm39 is that the dm39 has an optical in. There are other tweeks that may not be apparent.

Has anyone used a Denon dm39 for stereo with two subwoofers? I have a Wharefdale 150 subwoofer and was thinking of buying another to boost the bass. On the one I have I use Accoustic 2020! speakers with the crossover at it's highest.and the other controls/settings set properly but I am not happy...

I think I have solved the problem. I stream music from Amazon via the Amazon fire product. In settings there is a setting to stream music in Dolby surround instead of stereo which I turned off. The Dolby is probably more useful for movies than music? The hum has diminished somewhat.

I seem to have a "problem " playing mp3 music. I play mp3 from Amazon through my tv to a denon dm39 receiver with acoustic 2020i speakers and a wharefdale subwoofer 150. The bass seems to boom a little even when the loudness is turned down. I have set the crossover at high and at 80. RCA...

I have just bought a Denon 39 and have been reading about DAC's, which I am ignorant about. Would it make sense to add a Denon DA-300USB Audio DAC with USB-B - Silver in addition to the Denon39? I am also accessing music via a TV and Amazon FireTV connected to Amazon cloud and an optical cable...

Problem solved! I realised that I wasn't getting any sound from my speakers. I had them wired into the back of the sub. Switched them back to the Denon and every thing is working. I am now getting a nice subtle bass sound that i had hoped for. I did say is was new to this. Thanks for the help.

I am new to this. Tried the 12 'o clock setting but no joy. Regarding the Denon I tried the setting that doesn't use the Denon's treble or bass to no avail. Thanks for the feedback.
