Sonos Era 300 and Era 100 speakers are official: spatial audio, Bluetooth are key features

I think these are too ugly to be a lifestyle product. You always give up a bit of sound for beauty with Sonos products but this is too far. I'll stick to the KEF LS50 Wireless plus wired link to other pairs of LS50 in the house as its comparable in price and looks much more beautiful. I'm...

Most smart TV owners still use an external streaming device

Sony XD8599 - Too slow to even operate - Nvidia shield Pro Sony XF9005 - Too slow for 4k from apps and usb - Roku UHD LG Oled C9 - Just about hanging on with its processor for 4k hdr currently. Stop putting rockchip and cheaper mediatek chips in tvs. We pay £1200-£1800 for all of them so why...

4K streaming on YouTube could soon be locked behind a pay wall

    Turkey vpn - £1 a month. That's what I do.

Here's why it's the end for same-day streaming and cinema movie launches

For me it's because OLED is so much better than any large cinema screen. When cinema was comparable to the picture we got at home it was the place to be but I'll happily wait 45 days for perfect blacks, infinite contrast and not having to go near people.

Bose QC45 noise-cancelling headphones get new personalisation features

If the jabra 85h sounded like the bose or the backbeats pro2 then it would win but sound is a distant 3rd place on those.

Bose QC45 noise-cancelling headphones get new personalisation features

Just sold the NC700s which are inferior in bass and comfort and controls to the QC45. QC45 are the premium line and Nc700 are the cheaper headphone really if you check sealed ones on ebay. Nc700 £150 sealed QC45 £220 sealed. Major issues controlling modes and tracks with the Nc700 touch controls...

    Cable choice PMC/Cyrus

There seem to be only 2 kinds of speaker cable for me. Firstly you need to have an AMP that is giving a load of AMPS. Something with seriously high power. I think you possess this so go for hugely fat silver cables for detail and hugely fat copper cables for beefy bass. I have not been able to...

    Sky Q....Utter rubbish

I still lose the mini box connection regularly. The quality of the picture on the mini box even with a strong signal is worse than netflix 1080. dark scenes look more like netflix 480 macroblocking. Terrible encoding and decoding tech being used for multiscreen by sky.

    Sky Q UHD.....really?

Netflix doesn't really look that good it's only 24mbps. Sky is about the same 5.9GB per roughly an hour of content. I think the sport streams are of a much higher quality live but yes the documentarys available are not in sufficient enough bandwidth to overtake bluray 1080p. It's a shame because...

    Sky Q advice needed

i have 100mbps virgin fibre and my 1 mini box directly above the q silver drops out a lot. I've tried remeshing and changing wireless channels of the 5ghz on the virgin router but it is a nightmare. 3 boxes would be a full time job rebooting and resyncing them in order 5 times a night to...

    The crosley/jensen dislike thread

In the heyday of what hifi this nonsensical thread wouldn't exist. This forum has gone downhill fast. I'm tempted to simply hope this comment will prompt someone to delete the whole thread.

Vinyl not warm. Tepid at best.

You bought a budget turntable with a high noise floor, probably didn't clean the record and it was a record from HMVs represses that has been mastered entirely from mp3s. Also you used a £5 phono stage off amazon. There ya go. Buy Weezer - Blue Album on MFSL USA pressing and a decent phono...

Onkyo vs Cambridge Audio (with Focal Chorus 716 or 726 speakers)

I was duped into buying an 8050 from richer sounds by a couple of users on this forum who banged on about great it was for that price range. I found it to be nasty cheap and lifeless compared to Cambridge audio equipment. I replaced it with more musical kit from Yamaha. Seriously the love that...

I didn't think it was like this around here. PP is longtime member, community champion, nice guy and I totally don't approve of some of the comments in this thread.
