Denon AVR4308 and Apple Time Capsule

As the last post is 3 years old I imagine that this info is surplus to requirements, but the Sonos system can access music stored on a Tine Capsule without needing to have a computer switched on. If you typed "time capsule" into their help function it details how to set it up.

can someone help me connect myHifi to my NEC Plasma TV

Perhaps the Phillips has more than one spare input. Or, as you say, a new amplifier is required.

can someone help me connect myHifi to my NEC Plasma TV

The TV isn't a TV but is a monitor. You need to hook up your Tivo box to the AUX input on the hifi (using the analogue L & R outputs from the Tivo.) Then seperately you will ned to connect the Tivo to the monitor, using whatever appropriate cabling. That should sort out your sound issues.

    Computer audio playback software review

Up to press I haven't noticed any major changes in the sound presentation between all the software, which is why I am sticking with BitPerfect. I have just bought my first external DAC, so am just getting used to the differences that this makes. Part of the reason for not noticing any major...

    Anybody been Record Shopping today?

Just ordered Jack White's new LP "Lazaretto." Can't wait: it ships in July (so I'll have to) but apparently the B-side plays from centre to outer rim and there are two versions of track one on side one: depending where the needle lands you either hear an acoustic or electric version. Should be fun.

    Computer audio playback software review

JJBOMBER: I'll not have anything negative said about my Mac. It suits my needs. I knew that the RAM was going to be an issue (it's an elderly Mac, 2009-vintage, running 2gb) and it is on the list of things to upgrade. I am sure that Audirvana and Pure Music will run more smoothly when I have...

    Computer audio playback software review

Thanks, MajorFubar. I only downloaded it a couple of days ago and was under the impression from their User Guide that I had to purchase their DSD Master programme. If that is not the case then "Hurrah!" It is certainly easier to use than the other two programmes that I trialled.

    Computer audio playback software review

Any chance of a review of the above software? Having recently bought a USB DAC (Geek Out 32-bit/384kHz) I have downloaded the trial versions of Pure Music and Audirvana to my MacBook (running OSX Mavericks.) neither of them worked especially well, probably due to insufficient RAM, so I have...

How long would it take to build the Death Star?

There were certainlyat least two version of the original trilogy on Laserdisc: The US version, in a beautiful Darth Vader boxset, had full Dolby digital surround sound. It contained the films on nine(!) discs, which allowed you to pause the film during play. The UK version was just in stereo...

The new Olive One. Has anybody heard it?

Has it shipped yet? Their revised date quoted December so do you have yours yet? If so, how is it? I am looking to purchase one in the summer and would love to hear your thoughts on it. Thanks

    Advice required about earphones

I couldn't do it. Couldn't spend the money on the unknown. I bought a pair of Shure E3c earphones on eBay, £38 delivered. They are brilliant. Remind me of my old Shure SE210 and E2c, but simply better. Yep, I played safe. Happy, though. Smiling broadly, in fact.

    Soundbars

Any chance of a review of the Paradigm Soundtrack soundbar? Sounded good to me at the local dealership (more musical than the Sonos playbar and with better bass, but with a narrower sound stage) but the experience was hindered by lack of time and the dealer's network playing up. I would be...

    DVD-A playback

The OP states that most of his files are ripped to AIFF. The DVD extractor software gives the OP the chance to rip his DVD-A discs in the same manner, with the added bonus of maintaining the higher bitrate (and sound quality.) Regarding how to play multi-channel files: I think that some...
