Replacement for Samsung QE50Q65T (2020) QLED HDR 4K

Thanks for the suggestions and advice folks. I went into JL and had a look - the QLEDs, whilst bright, were not worth the cost over the standard ones, and the OLEDs were just too pricy. I today settled on a LG 55UR91006LA (2023). It was listed as £649 on JL site, but I got 10% off that for...

PerfectView TV, a genuine revolutionary product or a scam?

I've only had a quick look at these, but they are probably related to some tech that has been around a while. I recall seeing a Top Gear where they showed a Range Rover, which had a screen which showed multi-angle images; the driver saw one thing and the passenger another. How far along this is...

Replacement for Samsung QE50Q65T (2020) QLED HDR 4K

I can get over to JL next week sometime, no way am I going to Milton Keynes on a weekend! As for Richer Sounds, I don't trust them - looking through the warranty shows all sorts of get out clauses (the broken TV should be in perfect condition...with packaging... (Really!?) I've had dealings...

Replacement for Samsung QE50Q65T (2020) QLED HDR 4K

Bought a Samsung QE50Q65T in 2020 from John Lewis. Screen developed a fault (horizontal lines) last year. Screen (display panel) was replaced under warranty. A year later and the new unit has developed the same fault. John Lewis are writing it off (it would cost them over £600 just to get the...

65" still too big after five months

These are your friends here: https://www.toolstation.com/m6-rigifix-frame-fixing/p96377 Our flat has the same sort of issue - plasterboard over studwork, so our TV would rip off the wall if we used standard fittings. These consist of an extra long (various available) plastic 'rawlplug' which...

    Reliable TV needed

Further update - They offered me a Sony , but I opted to pay the difference between that and a new TV, a Samsung QE50Q65T (2020) - the Sony was £599, the Samsung £699. As I have paid extra money, the TV also comes with a complete 5 year warranty as well. It was lucky that the way the original...

    Reliable TV needed

Just been looking around and found that - thanks for the link anyway. It seems that it also does All4 etc, so they are back on the list. They haven't phoned yet, but they are run off their feet - response time via email is quoted as 7 working days (it took 8!) but got to cut them some slack...

    Reliable TV needed

Just to update, John Lewis have said that they will replace the TV, and will be contacting me today with an offer - Just a case of figuring out what to accept now, LG don't do All4 etc, others don't do NowTV, which we use, but we'll just have to see.

    Reliable TV needed

Panasonic seem to get a decent Which? report for reliability. Sony seem to be pretty stable as well. Thanks.

    Reliable TV needed

John Lewis informed me that TV wasn't covered by 5 year warranty (which was provided on original Sharp TV) Samsung don't provide 5 year warranty. I now have to wrangle with them about this. Hopefully they will accept the responsibility and we won't have a shouting match (metaphorically speaking)

    Reliable TV needed

My Samsung UE48JU6400K TV has the lurgy. It has magenta blotches all over the screen, on all inputs, all test screens even after hard-reset. I contacted Samsung, who said it needed to go to a Service Centre. Service centre said they could do the diagnosis via photos and phone call as it was...

Thanks for the quick reply. I'll give that a go.

Ripped CD ends up as several albums

I ripped my collection recently to FLAC Both WIn Media Player and PowerAmp made errors - missing the first tracks, putting stuff all over the place, so I am now ripping them all again in Apple Lossless. iTunes seems to make a better job of collecting the right artwork etc, as well as keeping...

Simple and cheap method to hear 7.1 Blu rays

As an aside, could anyone enlighten me as to the apparently stupid amount of wattage AV receivers put out? Why even What-Hifi? seems to downgrade their ratings if 10 watts are missing? It is like reading a car - hifi review. I know I have been out of hifi for a long time, but back in the day...

Simple and cheap method to hear 7.1 Blu rays

Well I solved the problem by getting a soundbar for the blurays and a new system for music. The soundbar is a Samsung HW J250. Nothing grand, but I can actually hear the blurays without going nuts. The Bluray player is linked optically to the soundbar, so I can get a decent quality from it. I...
