just a bunch of beautiful hi-fi pics, please share yours

Nice use of Comic Sans on the Consonance CD player. If I'd dropped whatever x grand that that had cost I'd be sending it back on principle.

Is there much Stars of the Lid on Spotify? They're pretty awesome in this regard.

Praise & shame - rate your new vinyl here

I can also recommend Norman - really great site. I've found out about lots of interesting releases from their recommendations. Also, they quite often send you free sweets with your order!

IIRC PWEI often (always?) gave songwriting credit to Vestan Pance, so that isn't a Gracenote anomaly and more a 20 odd year old jape.

Come on Marantz ... please keep up with the times

I don't think that is a DAC in the Digital to Analogue Converter sense inspite the confusing name. I think it's an analogue pre amp with some sort of digital gain control or something... The translated description is quite confusing. Would be interested if anyone can shed anymore light on...

Is this vinyl revival thing just a load of nonsense?

Beck did that with Modern Guilt. The LP came with an MP3 download code - so far not so unusual... However, in this case the MP3s had been recorded from an actual vinyl pressing of album, using IIRC Pink Triangle TT and other assorted kit. I believe the 1st MP3 started with the sound of the...

    World Music on vinyl

I don't think much new world music comes out on vinyl. The new Tinariwen LP did for one and Soul Jazz did an album of Haitian drumming that came out on vinyl last year... There are quite a few labels that reissue what might be called "world music" on vinyl: Honest Jons (also new releases)...

What vinyl are you listening to?

Lambchop's recordings nearly always sound great to me (in terms of recording and production). However, I have the 1999 original of Nixon and always felt that side 2 has quite a bit or surface noise - possibly I just have a slightly duff copy. It was reissued as part of City Slang's 20th...
