Right, so i bought some brand new lithium batteries for the remote to test it out... I pressed the volume button on the remote, the knob turned just slightly, and then froze up again, but while still making the turning noise from the little motor... Any other ideas? thanks a lot!

Not sure that's an option for me, since I bought the amp off E-bay second hand :/ The knob worked perfectly when I got it, and only about a week in did it start to have this issue ...

Yeh it does look like a great machine, however the question is the following. I need to uprade my amplifier anyway, so either I could buy a new amp (in the range of 1000-1500 USD, or I could get this one second hand, for less and upgrade other parts (like the cartrdige). So is the pioneer worth it?

I think for the price I paid I'm extremely happy with the BX5's, they're really great for what they are. I listened to quite a few other floorstanders and I didn't get the kind of warmth and clarity that the Monitor's produced. If you can save up, I'd recommend the RX-6, but it was too pricey...
