Cambridge Audio Minx 2.1 vs Standmount speakers

Thanks both, that's really helpful. I may potentially be able to get it in a corner, but if not it sounds like I may need to give up on the idea.

Cambridge Audio Minx 2.1 vs Standmount speakers

Thanks for the reply. I was thinking of the 11/12s with a 201 and the sub would be along the long wall so would have limited reinforcement from what you've said regarding corner palcement. Tonally, did you find the satellites and sub to be well integrated? Thanks.

Cambridge Audio Minx 2.1 vs Standmount speakers

Anyone out there compared a Cambridge Audio Minx 2.1 system with a pair of standmounts? If so, I'd be interested to hear your thoughts. I'm currently using a Denon PMA-50 (Spotify premium via Google CCA using the Denon's DAC) with a pair of MA GX50s, which sounds very good but I was wondering if...

    Leema Acoustics Xone

I've had both the Xeros and Xones. I really liked the clear top end of the Xeros, openess, speed and punchy mid-bass but their overall balance was bass light becoming fatiguing over time. I picked up some Xones thinking they'd resolve the tonal balance but to be honest the difference wasn't huge...

    Speaker recommendations for smallish room

I'd thought about the monitor/sub option, but there's no where (practical) for the sub to sit. Thanks for the suggestion though.

    Speaker recommendations for smallish room

Yeah, the wall (solid plaster) is right behind my head, which I expect isn't helping. No chance of any absorption panels though - the missus wouldn't have it. Previously my stereo has always been set up in quite large/open plan rooms with timber frame/plaster board walls (the smallest was...

    Connecting HiFi and PC wirelessly

For the past few years I've used an Apple TV2 connected to a Fiio D3 Dac, which in conjunction with Rogue Amoeba's Airfoil software allows me to stream audio from different sources/applications on our laptop, typically Spotify but also Google (which would include Youtube) etc. Airfoil allows...

    Speaker recommendations for smallish room

Forgot to add in my previous response, I'm in London so have access to a fair range of brands. Home demos are a bit more of a challenge though, not having a car - taxi!

    Speaker recommendations for smallish room

I was wondering about the GB1is but I thought the DB1is would be too small to produce the fuller sound I'm after. If you've compared the two, did you find this to be the case? As an aside, how do you find the treble on the LS50s - I've read they're incredibly detailed but is it also quite...

    Speaker recommendations for smallish room

Mac, Thanks for the recommendations. From what I've read it seems the SHL5s have the sound I'm after but are too wide (they'd get knocked over). In terms of the P3ESR, I don't think they'd produce a full enough sound given their size. The A5s look to have good potential as do the A6s and...

    Speaker recommendations for smallish room

Looking for advice on speakers to be used in an 11x15 foot room, with solid plaster walls and carpeted floor. The speakers would be placed against the long wall, either side of the TV (about 4 feet apart), firing across the room. Distance behind the speakers would be limited to about 8 inches...

    MUSICAL FIDELITY X-A200R - Comments please! :)

I had one of these not that long ago - great little amp. Like all MF amps I've owned it was very musical and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I kind of wish I kept it to be honest, and have found myself recently looking around at some of the XA amps again (I also had an XA1 years ago, which was also...

    Questions for Rick at Musicraft

The reason I posted it on this forum in this manner is that my questions aren't business related. I am just interested in picking Rick's brain as a fellow forum member as I feel he is probably the best placed member on the forum to answer my questions - the aim of which would be to prevent me...

    Questions for Rick at Musicraft

Hi Rick, I was hoping you could help me with the following questions: 1) I have a Plinius 9200 which I'm very happy with, however I've always been intigued by Naim amps. I've only ever briefly heard Naim amps in stores but found I quite liked what I heard on each occassion (each time in all...

Turntable advice needed for a newbie

Thanks Fatboyslimfast for the response. I'm not so much interested in building a big vinyl collection, but more interested in getting new 180g/audiophile (where possible) LPs of some of my favourite albums from both old and new bands. Given these seem to go for around £20 - £25 I'm unlikely to...
