I only have a few at the moment...but I have to say my favourite is Kind of Blue- Miles Davis. Surprising to me as was hardly a jazz fan.

PS: you are only allowed to choose one, so think carefully!

As you can imagine I've loads, but to name one I'll have to say Joan Armatrading's first album. The sonic punch and the detail on the accoustic guitar is blistering. . . .

I have a copy of a Wharfedale speakers promo album from 1976 entitled "Larger Than Life" which is a collection of tracks recorded at a high quality.

A neighbour of my parents worked at the old Wharfedale speaker cabinet factory (Rank Audio Visual) the album was given to workers as a christmas present in December 1977. I still have the company letter which accompanied the album and outlines the events of the year and their plans for 1978!

I've said it before on these formus and, by God, I'm going to say it again. Neil Young's Tonight's the Night sounds extraordinary on vinyl.

This is my absolute favourite of the LPs I own, in terms of content and quality:

More generally, the Rick Rubin-produced Johnny Cash albums - eg The Man Comes Around - are incredible on vinyl.

But I regularly enjoy everything from inherited albums to charity-shop purchases, too

Lambchop "Nixon" always sounds great on vinyl. Mos Def "Black on Both Sides", too.

Lots of jazz seems to lend itself to vinyl for some reason... Impulse's heavyweight reissues are universally really good sounding and cheap - £10 from places like Fopp! and Honest Jons.

My personal fave vinyl cut is a 12" of Puutarhassa by Pekka Streng on JazzPuu. It's not a special release, cut at GZ in the Czech Republic, but just a great tune that sounds amazing to my ears.

In terms of sound quality this is a lovely piece of vinyl -

Spirogyra - `Old Boot Wine`

It`s a reissue on the `Timeless` label and sounds great though of course it will help a lot if you like this style of music. Keep meaning to bag a copy of the Frank Sinatra album Claire mentioned. I already own it on cd and vinyl but the remastered recent reissue appears to be the one to get.
