Hi Fr0g

I don't post very often, but I could not resist this one as I am a bit of a fan of electronic music.

Albums that are the corner stone of why I like electronic music and are go to for me

1. Kraftwerk The Man Machine

2. Tangerine Dream Tangram

3. The Human League Travelogue

4. Ryuichi Sakamoto B-2 unit

5. Vangelis China

6. Ultravox Vienna

7. Bill Nelson A Love that Whirls

8. Jean Michel Jarre Magnetic Fields

9. Klaus Schulze Digit

10. Edgar Froese Kamikaze 1989

I have more recently been listening to these artists who have rekindled my electronic listening over the last 3 years

Stars of the lid, A winged victory for the sullen, Bloodgroup, Royksopp, Wolfsheim, Iamamiwhoami, Solarfields, Chicane, Ulrich Schnauss, Chvrches.

Have to say I love the stuff and have a mountain of CD's from all of these artists and a few others.

If you like Stars of the Lid and haven't already listened to it, try "Dead Texan - Dead Texan". It's a really excellent album, and would be on my list apart from the fact I limited myself to 10, even though I forgot that in the thread title.

Some more excellent stuff which I must add...

Rykard - Arrive the Radio Beacon

Tycho - Past is Prologue

Orbital - In Sides

Sync 24 -Ambient Archive

Vibrasphere - Lungs of Life

Young American Primitive - Young American Primitive

Solar Fields - Until we meet the sky

AES Dana - Pollen

HUVA Network - Ephermeris

Marconi Union - Under Wires and Searchlights

Biosphere - Substrata (One of the best ambient albums made IMO)

Jon Hopkins - Contact Note

port royal - dying in time

Ulrich Shnauss - Far away trains passing by

more to come :)

By the way I try to limit myself to one album per artist, but usually like most of each's output :)

Hi,

Yes I am well into the Dead Texan, thanks, have you tried Christina Vantzou? She is Adam Wiltzie's girlfriend apparently, her album No 1 is cool. There are 2 other side projects Sleepingdog and Aix Em Klemm both available from Amazon, where Wiltzie collaborated with members of Labradford.

Thanks for the list of artists I am going to listen to all suggested on this thread, think there is plenty to discover.

To try Bloodgroup, and Icelandic band, go to allscandinavian.com there is all types of music on there, but that is where I found Blood group and they are reminiscent of early Human League/Depeche Mode et al.

Happy listening!!

I have just been revisiting some albums by Scanner, a truly great electronic musician and artist - namely 'Spore', 'Lauwarm Instrumentals' and my favourite, 'Sound For Spaces'. Just purchased 'Electronic Garden' and 'Rockets, Unto The Edges Of Edges', two of his albums from the last few years. Will report back in due course.

For fans of Basic Channel/Dub Techno, have a look for the new Yagya & DeepChord release, 'Will I Dream During The Process (DeepChord Redesigns)'. Sublime.
