I had the same problem. I couldn't find much information on it but I decided to get one anyway. I have it in a corner underneath my TV and I still find it very effective even although it is not in the centre of the wall. It has tons of manual settings which I've not got around to playing with and I'm sure if I had it correctly placed and setup manually it could sound even better. It won't deliver HD audio but it still sounds great with DD and DTS and there are a number of different sound settings to choose from.
One thing I notice is that there doesn't seem to be much difference between this and the older ysp-500 apart from HDMI connectors so you could save your self some money and connect using an optical lead and get the old model.
Although it doesn't give me brilliant rear effects due to the postioning of my living room, it still gives a good rumble and will immerse an average sized living room with great surround sound. It blows away anything my tv will do and the fact that it is quite neat is a nice touch. I was very impressed when watching gladiator.
In summary, I think it is impressive, it is neat, easy to setup and fills the room with great sound. I will admit that a proper 5.1 setup wil be better so if your obsessed with getting perfect surround, this won't be for you. It will be best in the centre of the wall so it can bounce off the side walls. Curtains and sofas can reduce the effect but I still find it good. If you could give one a demo then that will help you decide.
