Afternoon,

I am looking at upgrading my AV amp and am currently thinking of the Yamaha or the Onkyo. Got a budget of about £500. Haven't seen any reviews of the RXV673 but read the 5* review of it's predecessor and read some pretty good reviews of the Onkyo, though have also read that the Onkyo's have a few reliability issues??

I currently have as my speakers the Tannoy V4's as fronts, the V1's as rears and a VC centre (no sub). Amp is currently a Sony STR-DH810. I'm wanting to hook up a CD player to the amp too as I dont have the room for a seperate Hifi set up unfortunately so the amp must be good for playing music along with movie soundtracks.

Any guidance/recommendations would be appreciated.

Cheers.

Gareth.

I would opt for the Yamaha - they have gone to town on this model for 2012. We run ours on the KEF T-series in store and I am always checking that it is definitely the 673 that is running them.

The Yamaha RXA810 seems to be the same price as the RXV673 but is higher up in the range...

Which would be preferable??

i also seen this. However it seems like the 810 does not have airplay and probably some other features missing from the 2012 range. although it is priced very well. I just cant see many reviews on either of them two tbh.

im trying to decide between an AS500, Onkyo 616 and a 673.....aaaargh!! so hard! lol
