I'm taking my first steps into the world of decent sound and would really appreciate some advice. I've done as much reading on the matter as I can and have come to a point where I could really do with some people who know a lot more than me telling me whether I'm heading in the right direction.

So, I'm looking to buy an amp, 5.1 speaker set up and a TV for my living room, which measures around 15' by 12'. I hope to add a PS4 at some point in the future. I'll do doing a lot of listening to music/radio (so was tempted by stereo set up) but certainly want to be able to settle in to watch movies too (so have arrived at 5.1).

I suppose I'm least sure about amp/speaker pairings. I've come across an offer for Yamaha RX-V677 w/ Tannoy HTS-101 and some cables for £700. This seems to comprise two very good items. But are they well matched?

In terms of TVs, this one seems well reviewed and good value, though it isn't their most recent version. I assume that's why it's at a seeminly good price:

In total this set up will cost me around £1300.

Thanks in advance for any guidance.

I have the tannoy speakers with a Yamaha V377 and they work very well together. I would assume the same would apply to the more expensive V677. I'm very impressed by the build quality of the speakers.
