Yamaha RX-V1900

Am I right in saying that it doesn't have HDMI upscaling only anaolog? If yes then Pioneer LX51 looks like a better option.

According to a number of websites the RX-V1900 won't be available until November, however reading another site, it appears a few people have got their hands on some in the UK already.

The best prices I've seen the RX-V1900 advertised are...

Yes, I think you are correct, the RX-V1900 only scales analog inputs, whereas the RX-V3900 scales (and more) both analog and HDMI inputs. I personally prefer the look of the RX-V3900 as it has more video capabilites (including a handy 2nd HDMI out) as well as being a "network" reciever.

I have asked (via this forum) whether WHFSV plan to review either the RX-V1900 or RX-V3900 (I believe sonically they'll be pretty much the same) in the near future, but so far haven't heard anything back (appear to be ignored ;-)

I'm keeping a look out on the other forums and the HCC website for early reviews. If I find anything I'll let you know.

Not being ignored, just rather a lot of posts to keep track of and yours seems to have been buried deep in the system

To answer your question, we've asked for the RX-V1900 and RX-V3900 and are awaiting review samples.

Andy

I was hoping that would get a response

Thank you for coming back so rapidly

When you review the RX-V1900 and RX-V3900, will you also review their video capabilities along with the usual audio critque ?

I'd really like to know how the Yamahas complete on both the audio and video front with their Denon and Onkyo competition.

Many thanks for this.

Mark

Thanks please do..

I personally think it's a bit pointless to have analog upscaling and not HDMI one especially when more and more devices have HDMI outputs (Sky HD etc..). I think it would be good to use upscaling capabilities of the AV Receiver to do the job. It think sounds is not as important because I still think that if you want good stereo sound then you need stereo amp although yamaha DAC looks promising.

Andy am I right in saying that new Yamaha range should be on the Stuff show in 2 weeks time?

The RXV1900's are now available - we have ours set up with an M&K M1 package and their matching Bluray player, and sounding rather nice too.....

Question for Frank Harvey - will the RXV-1900 pass Blacker than Black & Whiter than White ?

Frank, What are your views of the bluray player? I have ordered 1 and it should be here at the end of October.

Charl:Frank, are you happy with the Yamaha BDS2900?

At what price was the BDS2900 quoted?
