Yamaha A-S series and B&W

Hi,

This is my first post on this forum, and I'm quite the newbie on Hi-Fi.

I'm considering buying the Yamaha A-S500 or the A-S700. I see that the 500 has gotten a far better review on What HiFi, but reviews elsewhere praise the A-S700.

I'm primarily looking to drive a pair of B&W DM 685s from the amp, but planning to upgrade to DM 683s down the line. Does anyone know if these speakers would be too heavy to drive for the A-S500 or A-S700? Which of these would be a better choice for the DM 683s?

I'm also keeping a lookout for a deal on a H/K 980 or 3490, despite the design. The Yamahas just look so incredibly more slick.

Advice on this would be much appreciated!

i'm using an as-500 to drive a pair of 4ohm dynaudio dm 2/7s and it's doing a fine job. i don't see why it would'nt drive either of those b & w speakers.
