I'm looking at these as an upgrade to what i have now, has anyone heard of these or heard them. Ive seen some good reveiws so far but would be interested if anyone here has anything to add.

Cheers

They don't have a UK distributor yet and as such I presume you've seen them on sale direct on another forum? That is the only place I've seen them. As you can't really demo them, I discounted them (despite the hype) when I was upgrading my speakers. They seem to have plenty of fans though. There is a few reviews on the manufacturer's site IIRC.

As Dave states, they don't have a UK distributor, and I think they'll find it hard to when they're selling direct. Auditioning is essential with speakers, so not having any dem facilities in the country is going to hamper their acceptance. There are those that rave about them, but it's just something that's new, so that's to be expected. The review I read about one of them compares them to some KEF and B&W, but reading between the lines of the review, the KEF's came out top.

Cheers for the thoughts. I know they offer a 30 return policy although it hits your for shipping.

In respect of the KEFs, which model where they compared to. I do quite like KEF and they look the part, plus a dem isnt to difficult.

ÿCheers.ÿ

They are very good speakers, beautifuly built, very good sound, excellent subwoofers, amp, etc, but they screwed themselves over royaly like Frank said by selling direct.

And in fairness the KEF speakers that pip them in the review cost three times the money!

If they really are that good for the money I might just take a leap of faith. Worst case, I pay the shipping.

garethwd:And in fairness the KEF speakers that pip them in the review cost three times the money! In the review (I forget the wording), the reviewer states that the KEF's have the best midrange of all those in the test, and also above it's price bracket. And from what he says, the KEF's more than 'pip' them....

Everything costs money, and there's only so much any manufacturer can do for a given price. If you factor in R&D, build, finishing, quality components, and out and out sound quality, that costs - you can't do all that on a tight budget. Oh, and don't forget delivery 🙂

Ive just reread the review it say the xtz is the best all round speaker! fairly staight forward. It does say that the kef has the best midrange but isnt that rounded a product....makes no odds to me really though becouse ive never heard any of the speakers in the test and probably never will but it does sound like a very goodspeaker for the moneys

On a second reading lol, it isnt so clear he does say the xtz is the best all rounder but then goes on to say that the kef has its beating by a margin in the midrange its a bit of confuseing review.

Well if I do decide to take a stab at them I'll be sure to post a reveiw. Nothing ventured nothing gained as the saying goes.ÿ

I did this with SVS. The only demo I had was of a lower model to the one I bought about 6 months previous to purchase, but I held my breath and made the order. I figured I would at least be able to sell it on at minimal loss (I could probably make a bit now actually). Its the best bit of kit Ive ever bought!

Watch this space . . . . . . . . maybe.ÿ

I'm one of those that took the plunge and ordered a pair of XTZ 99.26 in walnut and have not regretted my decision one bit. They have seriously quality drive units and a solid construction that you won't find elsewhere for the price.

The speakers sound fabulous after a faily legnthy run in and (in my room) with the bass bungs in place provide solid bass, clear mid range and detailed and extended treble. When you have been used to dome tweeters for a while, the clarity and transient response of the ribbon tweeter is quite an ear opener.

I upgraded from a pair of Monitor Audio BR2s and they are an obvious step up in every respect, the BR2s sound hazy and uneven in the bass by comparison.

You can't hear EB Acoustics speakers in a showroom either and seeing how the EB1 has been lauded by WHF , a test of these XTZ could be interesting .

This is an old thread to be dredging up, but direct sales companies HAVE to provide a trial/money back option as they have no retailers to sell through. One has to ask why they have no UK retailers, or even a sole UK distributor.

I know this is an old thread but i have just stumbled across it. Thought you might be interested to know that XTZ have recently acquired a retailer in the UK for their products. The company is Audio Sanctum, www.audiosanctum.co.uk. They are offering home demos by sending you what you want to demo out for a deposit. If you like the product they will send you a new product and have the demo item shipped back. If you don't like it (unlikely in my opinion) they will return the demo product and refund the deposit minus the shipping costs. I had the CD Player and Amp on demo and i was very pleased with both the quality of the XTZ products and the service of Audio Sanctum, they were very helpful guys.

I see the prices are the same - XTZ were obviously taking both profit margins when they were selling direct. So now I know roughly how much they cost to make.....

Looks like it's purely online (so they have to offer home trials), no retail outlet, and no landline phone number?

Sorry to drag this thread up from months ago, but one of the xtz standmounters, the catchily titled 99.25 has received rave reviews in another mags latest edition. A tasty looking standmounter with a ribbon tweeter that is singled out for praise! With that in mind, it would be great if WHF could consider a group test for these buy-direct type products! There's EB acoustics, Audiosmile, and XTZ to name but 3 companies that sell standmount speakers at different pricepoints. Any chance of a group test?

Beat me to the jump here; I saw the review as well and was impressed with what I saw. No faint praise either in comparing them with Audiosmile's Kensai speaker which is apparently terrific at £1500. Given these are some way below that, it looks like an decent offering for the money though the review goes beyond that.

mikeinbrum -did you order a pair ? I'm very very tempted I have to say - probably going to buy the "front 3" after a bonus at work - so 2 off 99.36s and one 99.25

if you look at the constituent parts of these speakers, what you get for your money does as you've said seem rather good value for money, the Fountek tweeter used is praised across speaker build communities, and the Seas Excel driver is raved about. In fact going on US dollar prices (obviously XTZ get volume discounts - I guess) - you'd be looking at almost 300 pounds in driver costs alone if you were to build a pair yourself .... then you'd have the cabinets etc

I'll let you know what I think of them when the arrive.

To quote myself a year ago. These speakers really are fantastic.

The bass response is very good, pretty damn flat till about 40hz in my room with the speakers bunged and 15-20cm from the wall behind them.

All my friends that have come round to listen can't believe the detail and clarity of the XTZ's, they do need a fairly decent amp to get the most out of them and they are not that sensitive so at least 50w and above is ideal.
