Hey, I just wanted to check something before I buy. Are any component cables compatible with the 360, or will I need something made specificially for use with the 360? I'm pretty set on buying the Monster GameLink 360 cable, but if any cable can work I'd probs choose the QED Performance Component instead seeing as it's meant to be the best full stop. Cheers for any help.

I know, it comes with the system but it's pretty scrappy in comparison to others. I want to upgrade.

I would try to get a demo to see if it's any better and worth the outlay.

I know this thread has been cold for a week now but if you haven't already gone out and bought anything...

The Xbox 360 uses a proprietary AV connector so, unless Microsoft have quietly changed the design since I last looked, you can only use a dedicated Xbox 360 to component lead. This discounts all standard (phono to phono) component leads, QED included. As for your options I can only think of the Microsoft and Monster cables already mentioned. There may be an adaptor available that would allow you to use a standard component cable, but I'm fairly sure adding an extra gubbin into the signal path would defeat the benefit of buying a better cable in the first place.

Or you could buy an Elite and go HDMI...

The cable supplied with the XBOX isn't too shoddy I'd say... Anyway, aren't all the 360 models now being supplied with HDMI out? (Although I'm not sure if the cable is bundled...)

How much are you wanting to spend on the component cable?
I looked into it last year. Sold the 360 for £165 on ebay then bought a 360 Elite online for £250 which in the end cost me £85 to upgrade and even with the standard free HDMI lead the picture quality is an improvement over the component.
