Will I get any interference??

I plan to put a bracket up in my garage for a heavy punch bag. The wall that I want to use connects to my lounge - on the other side is my LCD. The wall is very solid (100 year old detached house). There is a chimney that runs up between the lounge and garage. Would I get any problems with the screen do you think? I have asked a relative and they are certain there wouldn't be a problem. On the garage side the wall juts out about a foot for about four foot wide of the wall. This is where the chimney must be housed. Either side of this is the other side of the lounge wall - it's solid as. So there must be a foot of solid wall until you get to the solid wall that is on the other side of my screen. Hope this makes sense? I used the opposite wall which is made of brick and I've just knocked the bag and bracket off the wall after about three right hooks!

I would imagine that there would be a cavity in the wall, which would prevent any vibrations transfering through causing interference. Are you using large enough fixings? I would have thought something like rawlbolts should do it.

Yeh, I think it will be fine. As I see it there is a foot of block before you get to the main wall and as you say there should be a cavity and then the wall to the lounge.

I will be now - I'm going to buy a stronger bracket than the one I've got and it has 8 hex bolt fixings. Thanks.

I guess it depends how hard you hit ...

If you look like the incredible Hulk, some vibrations may go through the wall ... perhaps to the next town.
