Wiim puck: loose optical connection

I have an original WIIM which looks like a hockey puck. It’s great apart from the optical input socket which is so loose that a small knock makes the cable fall out. Is there a simple solution? I’m thinking some sort of sticky tape, but I don’t want to damage it.

No doubt you've proved that more than just the one plug falls out - to confirm that the socket is the issue.
A small amount of insulation tape would certainly pad the plug out - though you might end up needing to pick detached tape out of the socket.

Heatshrink sleeving clings well, but is never as thin as a single layer of insulation tape - and you probably won't need much padding.

This is a known problem with the earlier ones, if that happened to me, I'd find an optical lead I never needed to remove and glue it in, leaving it in a position to dry that no glue can run into the puck itself.

I was going to suggest trying different sets of Toslink optical cables, I had the same issue with my old Denon AVR the optical input was a bit loose, so I tried different cables and one had a slightly tighter fit.
If you have some spares lying about, worth a try.
