Boothroyd Stuart founded Meridian in 1977. Also in 1977 Jim Rogers left Rogers to set up JR Loudspeakers Limited and Farad Azima founded Mission Electronics.

In 1972 Nytronics Ltd founded by Richard Hay. Sinclair and Amstrad both had hi-fi gear in the 1970s and they were good but too cheaply built.
