crimsondonkey:Just think back to the reasons you originally started looking at replacement speakers in the first place.
I wanted something small and tuneful with good presence and pace and detail - even at lower volumes - that are well finished in real wood (Maple actually) on all faces and are a sealed cabinet design that can be used on stands, shelf or wall. Whatever bass is on offer should be genuine and not turbo'ed from a one frequency hole in a big box. Should be compatible with my system, look good, but have little - no impact on room and furnishings and make minimum demands on placement so we don't have to pander to the hifi whenever we move stuff around, re-furnish etc.
Should be aesthetically and sonically 'forgettable' in the best sense of forgetting about hifi and just enjoying whatever is on.
Should be balanced with my existing system so they do not reveal deficiencies or have their own deficiencies revealed in turn. That way lies more upgrading.
I once had the same system from 1996 - 2007 and I want this lot to do just as well.
