Which TV?

Is the PS050B850 a new TV because it is not listed on Samsungs website.

Yes it is a new model and it has only been avalible for a few weeks, but as to why it is not on Samsungs website I don't know.

That is good to hear, I wonder which delivers deeper blacks, the Samsung LED or the Samsung Plasma, because LED's can adjust the amount of light around the screen.

The plasma, as when pixels are off - ie showing black - there is no light at all coming from them. LCDs, be they backlit or edge-lit, still have the possibility of some light scatter.

Only when locally-dimming LED arrays become more available will LCD be able to come closer to matching this characteristic.

So for black levels, the plasma is the way to go, the only thing I don't like about plasma quite as much is that the colours seem to be slightly darker, they have a black tint to them.

I'm getting the new Sony Z5500 myself!!

Not a fan of Samsung plus normally there speakers are not to hot.

i agree on that one, but I already have a decent speaker system so I'm not to bothered there.

I can't say I have ever tried the built in ones on my Samsung but IMHO 99% of people with a screen that big will have a dedicated sound system so the ability of any onboard speakers becomes redundant.

The Samsung 50B850 produces a stunning picture using the inbuilt tuner so I assume it only gets better using a high definition source.

It would be interesting to see this in direct comparison with a Kuro as I can't see there being much in it however I wouldn't like to back up any claim without actually seeing the two models side by side.

if you havent bought your tv yet i suggest you get the new sharp models coming out end of august which have more led lights than the samsung and should be around your budget
