Which optical cable for Sky HD??

Is it worth spending any money on an optical cable between Sky HD box and AV receiver? Currently using a cheap no name but what's everyone else using???

Hi,

If you're Sky HD box is of the newer variety then you may have a coaxial output. Optical sounded a little 'limp' on my system. Cheap Coaxial cable made a great difference to the sound.

Hi Cookie Monster, you're right! Had my box replaced a few months back and it does have a coaxial input. Next obvious question then is......does coaxial sound better ( I think I know the answer to this) and if so is it worth investing a modest sum in a cable and, if so, which one???

You should be able to get a Coax cable from Maplin for about a tenner. Don't spend any more than that, you wont hear any difference.

I've just bought a QED Qunex digital coaxial for £14.50 so this should do the trick.
