Which DVD player comes very close to standalone budget CD Player?

Hi,

I am looking for a DVD player which can serve my purpose of listening to music CDs (2 channel only). I am not interested in using this player for video purposes, only redbook CD. I have shortlisted Pioneer DV300 and Philips 5150. They more or less are equally priced.

Please suggest which DVD player (also other products) would come closer to a standalone budget CD player say Azur 340, Marantz 5001, Denon, etc. as far as music CDs are concerned.

Am I missing something here? You want a DVD player to play CDs, and you don't want to watch DVDs on it?

Yes, looking for a cheap alternative for source for my bedroom system which consists of warm sounding Swan M200MKII active speakers.
