Which Connection?

Hi Andrew,

Just taken delivery of Onkyo 875, at set up it states in the instruction manual to hdmi connect your set top box (in my case that's sky hd) to the receiver, but having watched your How to set up home cinema video Dominic connects the sky hd box directly into the back of the tv.

Bit confused don't know which way too go, could you point me in the right direction please.

I'm pretty sure this will be because Sky HD doesn't send 5.1 sound through the HDMI (only stereo), you have to connect it up to the Onkyo using optical for that. So, in theory, you will get a slightly better picture from hooking it directly up to the TV as this ensures the signal takes the shortest path. However, if you wanted to hook it up to the amp to benefit from one button switching of picture and sound, this should still work fine.
