Which AV Receiver Yamaha AX 763 or 863SE

Hi ,

If someone could help I would be very grateful. I have a Samsung 50" HD DLP TV. I have just got a PS 3. I'm

looking for surround sound and have already bought some KEF2005.3 speakers(can be returned if bad choice).

I now need the AMP and don't know which Yamaha to go for 763 or 863 ? TV resolution is 1280x720. Display format 720p.

Would the 863 be "too good" for my speakers and T.V ? 863 is 1280p and 7.1 surround sound and my speakers 5.1.

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Both are very good amps, well reviewed by WHFSV and many owners. I have just set up a 863 as part of a 5.1 system with a 1080i plasma and am very pleased with it, so I don't think the 863 would be too good for your system - you have good speakers and a nice large display.

Depends on how tight budegt is and whether you need more than 2 x HDMI inputs - although there are other solutions if you do.
