Hi

im wondering of the virtues of the above tv's

i know what hifi reviewed the lx9900 at 1999 and wasnt impressed but its now at 999, the 550T comes in at a little below that after the sky cashback deal and the samsung 46D7000 can be had for a little above the 1k bracket

when ive tested them in the shops ive found the active shutter glasses very ..ermmmm ...blinky .. (crossover?) the sales attendants in the shops said its mostly to do with the ambient light within the shop ... thats 3 people in 3 shops.

the 550T on the otherhand seemed to give a much better 3D performance for me but im still not sure which way to jump

i love the looks of the 9900 more so im leaning that way, im just a bit worried about the blinking

can anyone comment on the blinking and how the 9900 would be reviewed at a 1k price bracket?

thanks - hoping ot have your comments soon as im buying shortly

chris

I would forget all about 3D, and just go for the best 2D model you can afford.

Give it another year and 3D will probably be a distant memory.

Hi,

i had the 55"lx9900 and although its a beautiful set was plagued with a backlight problem which under normal living conditions was very bad and LG authorised a return for a full refund from the retailer, although this had full array backlighting and local dimming it failed miserably, of the choice you have in mind the Samsung is probably a better bet.

I was not conviced by 3d until I tried the lg 47 550 which has replaced my panny 42 v10 excellent Plasma overall, but the lg was gonna have to be special to do that and it is in terms of the 2d hd Pic it's shows more detail then the panny I had before which was very good black levels.

The 3d passive is hands down better then the active shutter I had tried last years and this years versions the only set I thought was good was the panny vt30 but no better then the lg I got.( I seem to struggle with active shutter I don't wear contacts or glasses either but find something unnatural)

I had the boys round for the champions league final 3d they all were amazed by the passive 3d and at half time showed them black ops in 3d which blew their minds, so much so my mate went and bought same set following day and is really happy with it.
The lg got some really cool features that still amaze me.
I Never thought I would have bought a lg but am glad I did this is my opinion and hope this helps you

I have also got the Lg 550t 47" very impressed so far and great in 2d and 3d! For the price of just over £800 after sky cashback its a bargain imho
