Hi,

I plan to buy my first LCD TV. Sony V series. In order to get full HD, I understand that I have to connect it to DVD player via HDMI. My DVD player has that connection.

However, my receiver (Denon AVR 1907) doesn't have HDMI input/output.

The TV salesman suggests that I connect the DVD player directly to television for video via HDMI. For surround sound, I connect DVD player to receiver. This makes sense.

The question is: Will there be a sync problem?? Since the video signal goes directly to TV, I guess that the signal will be processed/come out faster than the sound.

Thank you.

Sony. NS-728 or NS-78. I don't remember (Sorry, I am not at home now).

OK, all I need to know. Yes, the DVP-NS728 does offer 1080p uspcaling of DVDs through the HDMI output, so this is the best way to connect it to your TV.

You'll also need a digital connection to the receiver, but I guess you have that anyway.

Regarding synchronisation, if anything the picture may be a shade behind the sound, due to the video processing in both the player and the TV. The Denon receiver offers adjustable lip-synch, which you can use to delay the sound very slightly so it's synchronised with the picture.

I see.

I assume what you mean by 'adjustable lip-sync' is the 'audio time delay' in Denon menu.

I will try that.

Thank you for your answer.
