I'm bi-amping. Harmon Kardon power amp (100w x 2)powering the LF of my neat motive 2's, connected to the pre-out of my Roksan Kandy LIII intergrated amp (120w x 2) which powers the HF of the neats. The power output is different, will this be a problem? or do I have to purchase a kandy LIII stereo power amplifier with matching power output?

Your help is greatly apreciated

Regards,
Me

Power amp gain of the two could well be different, and the tonal balance almost certainly is. That's why we tend to advise against mixing and matching like this when biamping - but then again, if you like the sound you're getting, who are we to argue...?

I will have a long listening session on monday and find out if I like it. If not, I will defo buy the roksan kandy stereo power amplifier. Thanks for your advice Andrew.

Tested it- it just sounds wrong! I do think that it will sound superb with the Roksan LIII stereo power amplifier- found one online for £391 (not bad hey??)

gbhsi1,

Can't help but think that based on your recent unhappiness with your system that you are about to throw good money after bad. Bi-amping might make a subtle difference, but it seems unlikely to me to change the basic character of the sound you are hearing. More likely will just get more of the sound that you already don't like. Why not ebay your speakers, combine that money with the £391 you would have spent on the roksan power amp and buy different speakers. This would make the biggest change possible with your system.

i also read your recent post, can't help but think jax is right. i'd try pmc with the kandy.

Keep the Neats, sell the rest and go Naim. You won't regret it.

Tinkering round the edges will cost you more in the end, and you'll still probably not be satisfied.ÿ

I think it would be the answer. My system sounds great with several cd's and I think it could be that my system reveals a bad recording. I also know that adding the stereo amplifier will give me more control, tighter bass & resolve the treble issue. I like the roksan. I will not be bi-amping, just using the stereo power amplifier to power the neats (which I also love). Please, your suggestions are alway welcome.

how do you know that adding the kandy power amp will solve your treble issues? from memory, reviews of your speakers hint at treble problems. i guess it won't hurt to try the power amp, and you could sell it on without too much loss, but it could be what you are describing could just be a characteristic of the neats.

True- it could be a characteristic of the neats, but when I bi-amped using the harmon/ kardon for the LF and the Kandy for the HF...I heard the high frequencies shine through, no more harshness as I described before. Hence I think getting the power amp will match things beautifully as the H/K was a total mis-match, in terms of power and performance. I will give it go and report back the result.
