www.avforums.com has a free classifieds. But make sure you actually read their rules (not just ticking to say you have) before diving in.

I have started using AV forums as it avoids all the eBay fees, and if things are well priced they can sell straight away. You do have to read the rules though as they are quite strict on order of offers and it's well policed by the mods.

Have you actually checked if your stuff is listed on hi Fi choice? I can't see any of your gear when I search for Audiolab?

(ps don't post a link or anything here or mods will edit it and you'll get into trouble, as I found out the other day)

Well worth a try on HIFI FOR SALE

Its free and easy to register with.

I stumbled upon it one night whilst wondering about the best and quickest way of selling my ATC 11s.

I listed the speakers and they were gone within twelve hours:)

So what's wrong with eBay ?

Even with their fee's items usually make more money on there than anywhere else.

Ebays final value fee is a whopping 10% (has it always been that much?!), plus PayPal fees of 3.4%, mean that you've lost 13.4% of your final sale price.

I think it depends on what you're selling - if it's a well known and searched for item, without a lot if similr items for sake at once, then you'll get plenty of interest in eBay and an auction format suits.

If its a little more left field or less likely to be searched for, and you may only get one bidder, then somewhere like AV forums is good as you get good exposure on a list basis amongst a lot fewer items, and people will snap things up to ensure thy get it first.

Ps AV forums is the home of the Tag mclaren owners forum too, which also includes the pre tag Audiolab gear, thus it's quite good for people who like the older Audiolab stuff. Try it, if it doesn't work or you don't get the offers you are after, just decline them and archive the thread and try something else. Be aware that forum rules state that you can't have any item you offer listed for sale elsewhere though.

thanks guys i will try hifi for sale and maybe the av forums. i dont fancy free ad papers as anyone can see those kind of ads and dont want anyone just phoning me and coming to view would rather have someone who i know is into hifi hence asking for hifi sites. ebay i think is a rip off and nlanks my system is advertised on choice hifi not hifi choice. i selling so i can replace with a top class integrated and cd player so i dont have so many boxes as ive just moved to a smaller house. ive got my sights on either an arcam a38/cd37 or yamaha as 2000/cd2000 combo would even do a straight swap

I've the same question, but I've just put my Trichord Dino on fleabay...so fingers crossed I'll get a decent price for such a decent phono amp.

Sometimes they have a free listing weekend, but not when you actually have something to sell |(

Facebook marketplace is a handy tool. Its free, and you can restrict who the ad goes out to, so just friends, or friends of friends, by network i.e. Bristol. I've always done well on there, my 7D went for the expected eBay price but without the fees.

funny thing is i actually decided to finally list the system on ebay last night and what happens ? they tell me i havent got enough selling allowance omg i used to be a buyer and seller of hifi a few tears back and it was all so easy now i have to wait for a letter throught the post so i can have a bigger allowance. the system itself is still on choice hifi with a greatly lowered price so someones gonna get a bargain. i did also think about going to my local dealer but i honestly thought id end up getting the lowestt price out of all the options i have and besides they are quite expensive and dont stock the cd amp im after, thanks again guys any more suggestions would be great but il probably end up going for the safest route good ol fleabay

I've sold a few things on AV Forums with no problems... apart from the time I was selling on a Trichord Dino phono amp, and absent mindedly put it on AV Forums and Ebay at the same time ( a big NO NO that I was aware of so no complaints from me). Within about 2 hours someone off AV Forums (not a moderator either) was highlighting it with great glee and I was banned from posting/selling for 30 days

.

Not everything sells on there though. I put on my mint Creek Evo 2 amp/cdp at a really sensible and competitive price but amazingly got virtually no interest whatsoever (other than some idiot who offered a quite derisory amount for the amp).

A forum of so called experts is not a sellers market ;)

It may be a bit leftfield but why not try your local specialist retailer for a trade?
I don't consider that leftfield at all. If there are traders out there who will do it, (as there obviously are) I find that option far more safe/preferable than ebay even if the net payout is slightly higher.
