Whats going on with my turntable?

The left channel has gone in my cartridge which on first glance would be an obvious case of a worn out needle. But, I've rewired the needle so that the left channel should be coming out of the left and vice versa but still the sound only comes out of the right channel.

I'm going to borrow a cartidge anyway but I wanted to know why this was happening?

Thanks

You mean the left channel coming out of the right presumably?

Doesn't sound like there's anything wrong with the cartridge to me, it's either the amp or maybe the phono stage, do any other source devices have any issues?

In that case I'd guess it's the phono stage then, is it a separate one or built into the amp (I'm not familiar with that NAD)?

EDIT: Could be a dodgy cable of course, have you tried any spare cables?

The turntable has a built in phonostage as far as I'm aware. It's actually the Project Debut SB, which is the same as Project Debut III. I've tried every combination of wiring but it still only comes out of the right channel.

Wire the cartridge the right way around and then swap the left and right (ie put the right channel plug into the left channel socket) going into the amp, what happens then?

Get in touch with Henley. I had this problem on a Debut 2 SB - and Henley fixed it for me.

I have found that they are very good, and have had 2 more Project turntables since then. Currently I have a Debut Carbon Esprit SB - and am very happy with it. Henley helped when I had issues with that too.
