Once I bought a Audiolab 8000C/8000P combination at a hifi shop. It was not working and I payed 50 euro.

After a brief inspection, it turned out that the fuses were blowned. So, I only needed to replace those to get them rocking again!

That was my best bargain ever. What was yours?

Keesonic Kolts for £75 - Amazing what they do for so little money, beat the SCM7's in all areas other than Bass depth/SPL.

Target R1's for £31 - Cracking pair of stands at around 1/4 the price they usually go for.

A pioneer A400 advertised in a local paper 40£

A Rega Brio 3 about 50£

A pair of mint Epos es14 speakers complete with matching stands and biwire cable 100£

Denon dcd 1550 cd player about 30£

I always keep an eye open in the local paper for "preowned " bargains.

Paying £199 for my P85 was a particular highlight. Don't think I've seen one go for less than £200 before or since, more often than not they go for nearer £300. Having said that, £285 for my A85 and £320 for my CD192 ain't too shabby either.

Hi,

Two items. A pair of B&W speakers DM110i that was sitting in someone shed. I got them for around $130. A valve hybrid amp for $100 at Jaycar - a couple mods fantastic. I actually use these two items in my second system with my marantz cd63se cd player with some chord silverscrren speaker leads - very musical budget system.

Cheers

Steve.

A set of Quad MkII valve amps, a Quad preamp and an SME 4 tone arm; all bought for £25 in 1992 from a House Clearance shop in Wednesbury.

I was studying Sound Engineering & Music Production at the time and lived with two other guys who were doing the same course. When the kit got delivered, you should have seen their faces! I think I got £800 for the MkII's on eBay in 2004.

A Pioneer reference series A-676 amp for £25 from cash converters, which I used for several years, and then sold for a decent profit.

I do regret selling ot now, it was a monster, but had a beautiful sound.

DAC Nu force HDP, just unbelievable for the price. You will have to invest a big amount of money into a CD player, cables and amplifiers to get a comparable sound with your PC ( via USB ).

A truly immaculate pair of Missions 780 SE's bought 2-years ago for £35.

Put them in storage for a while, and then very stupidly sold them to a friend as a "favour". Regretted it ever since.

Most so far are second hand items. I managed to get a new primare t23 for £410 (RRP £900) when four were being sold on eBay. Marvellous tuner but didn't get enough use out of it, sold it for £525 after a year :)
