In actuall fact that''s exactly what my kids have done. My older Son has been saving up his Saturday money which he earned over the Christmas & New Period working in a shop but the younger chap is only 15 and hasn't had the chance to do the same. So they've been talking about getting a PS3 and have asked me if they can have one by spending the older chaps hard earned money on one. However I need to try and sort out a proper display as opposed to the 21 CRT they've been usuing with their PS2
Hi. We have our bedroom PS3 set up on a Samsung LE23R88BD which is about 4ft away and it outputs a 720p resolution very well for both Blu Ray /DVD movies and games. Its also got built in freeview.

Our son, 7 yesterday, has not yet earned a cent so we have the PS3 and he has a wireless signal sent from a freview box in the front room to a 23" Philips lcd in his bedroom. He sits 4-5ft (if we're lucky) from the screen and agree that size is just about perfect. The tv was s/h so info no help to you - prob. 2yrs old.

At that distance a 26in screen would be fine. Our 2007 Award winner was the Panasonic TX-26LXD70 (£700), but if you want something more affordable there's Sony"s KDL-26T3000 (£560) or Samsung's LE26R87BDX (£600).
All are 5-star products, and you should be able to find them for less than the prices I've quoted if you shop around.
