Ok so I want to buy a new tv but with the choice so vast I don't no where to start plasma.lcd.led etc etc ..

I watch a lot of movies so would it be better to buy a bigger screen size 55" +... Is bigger always better when watching movies ??

i have no idea in the best manufacturer always thought it to be Panasonic but seems there all good nowadays.

Did see an lg 4k 55" that caught my eye with the speaker dropping from the tv when switched on looked very cool!

Cheers guys

Forget plasma, only samsung and lg manufactureing it this year and samsungs plasma's are only 720p, look at led's.

A bigger screen would be better if you can accomodate it, how much do you want to spend and would you want to spend money on a high end tv, or spend less money on the tv with less features, i presume you would want to go for a 4K tv ???

Ok, just seen your preferred size. Obviously, bigger is better as long as your viewing distance accommodates it. What's tour budget?

You can get 2013 Panasonic plasmas which are still available. Personally, after reading all the horror stories about Panasonic's poor after sales support, I'm not going to buy a Panasonic TV again.

Would be looking to spend £2000 maybe a little more at a push .. Not to bothered with all the features as it's picture quality I'm after. And

screen size I don't mind just something that will be good for movies

Reviews of this range are consistently bad though:

W905 is actually a superb TV, the viewing angles are quite narrow though.

does this mean the picture isnt as good if you arent sitting in the best spot and not looking at the centre of the screen?

Check this review:

All this picture quality goodness comes with a major caveat though: you really need to sit directly in front of the television to enjoy the full benefit. Even for a VA-type LCD panel, the KDL55W905A’s viewing angles seemed particularly narrow, both horizontally and vertically. In fact, go beyond 20° off-axis, and you’ll be greeted with contrast and colour desaturation – we could hardly believe we were watching the same picture whenever we stood up or shuffled to one side.

We’re not sure if our review unit is representative of retail sets available to buy in stores, but you’d be well-advised to visit your local Sony dealer to see for yourself. Another factor is how sensitive you are to such shifts in colour and contrast… perhaps you’ll be able to tolerate it better than we did.

i wouldnt be getting the 55" version. i would get the 46" version which i read doesnt have as many issues with viewing angles as the 55" version.
