Hi, I have the following: Denon AVR2809 receiver, Sony BDP S370 blu-ray player, B&W DM603 floor standers and DM602.5 bookshelf rearspeakers. centre speaker is also B&W from the same family as the DM603 (can't remember the model number).
I have always taken the view that with such big speakers which still sound great, even with the new modern amp and blu-ray that I did not need a sub-woofer and in the past, I had one (which I should add was quite cheap) which did little if anything to aid the other speakers.
I have been advised, however, that any home cinema setup has to have a sub-woofer and that my set up would be significantly better if I got one!!!! Do i really need one or is this nonsense? if it really will make a difference what should I be going for? Can anyone remember back to the dinosaur age of the B&W 603 series? should I be going for an old ebay job to match the subwoofer with the other speakers or should I be going for something more modern?
I would really appreciate some advice.
Many thanks.
