What speaker cable do I own?

Having recently upgraded my amplifier and speakers (now have Icon Audio amplifier and RS6 speakers), I'm wondering whether I should also upgrade my fifteen year old speaker cables, bearing in mind that the instructions for the amplifier suggest that exotic cables don't make much of a difference, and that something such as QED original should be fine.

Anyway, my cables are black, and are simply stamped QED. I'm pretty certain that they were cheap when I initially brought them. Does anybody have any idea what model they are and whether it would be worth upgrading?

Sounds like it's QED 78 strand. It's an old design but better than bell wire. I used to have some but found a huge difference by upgrading to Chord Odyssey. That might be too expensive for you so a more up to date QED wire might be your preference.

79-strand, probably. And that's the predecessor of QED Original. I'd cut the ends off the cable, bare some new conductor, and see how you get on.
