Sure we can help, but a little more information would be handy.

What size is your room?

Any restrictions re placement of speakers (eg room shape/design etc)?

Any other space/aesthetic restrictions re receivers/kit racks etc?

Any preference re speaker size (full-size; tiny satellites etc).

Do you just want a movie system, or a music/movie all-rounder?

Do you want Blu-ray?

What size is your TV?

If i had that budget and wanted a change i would go for B&W 684 for fronts and 685 for rears with a Denon amp or a Pioneer in the 1000 range and some decent speaker cable and stands.

Sony STR-DA5400ES amp (£1400)+ Sony BDP-S5000ES(£1000) + B&W MT- 30(£1500)

All in Black please. Hard to beat, with cash to spare!!

It all depends on how small you want the speakers to be. With that budget, I'd be basing everything around a Yamaha DSPZ7. You could look at Monitor Audio's Apex package, which are small, high quality satellite style speakers. This will leav you around £1k to get a good quality Bluray player and all necessary cabling/stands.

Alternatively you could look at KEF's KHT6000ace package, which is also a lifestyle based package, and like the Apex, won't take up too much room.
