Student on a budget, need a good looking micro (?) system with decent sound quality. Need AUX in so I can hook it up to my laptop or equivalent connectivity.

Considering a Philips MC235B, good idea?

For your budget, you have two choices:

1. Ministry of Sound MOSMC130 @£130.00 ( What Hi-Fi 5 **** )

2. Goodmans 1104HDAB @ £75.00 (What Hi-Fi 5 ****)

Not sure really - but I wouldn't say the Philips speakers look like they are going to offer much sound quality.

You could try the Sony CMT-EH45, I had a quick listen at Comet, and whilst it wasn't hifi, it produces a nice enough sound. It also has the input you want and comes in at just under 100 notes...

Ebay would be my guess.

I picked up a Sony HCD-101 and a pair of lovely Mission M30's for £65 Delivered to my door.

Used mainly with my pc and sounds great!

With 100 pounds your options are limited to:

-2nd hand ebay. Try to find some denon/onkyo/teac micro

Denon here:http://shop.ebay.co.uk/items/_W0QQ_nkwZdenonQ20microQQ_armrsZ1QQ_fromZR40QQ_mdoZ

Teac here:http://electronics.shop.ebay.co.uk/items/?_nkw=teac+stereo&_sacat=14969&_fromfsb=0&_trksid=m270

-portable music player plus decent headphones
