I've just ammended my signature t include gear that is unused, and boxed up in my attic.

What stuff have you got in your attic, and why haven't you sold it?

I've got a few bits and bobs lying around including:

Sansui AU2200, AU2900, and AU4400 amps (not sold because I rather like them)

Yamaha K-X480 cassette deck (just in case)

Quad 11L speakers (probably getting sold in the not too distant future)

Wharfedale Diamond 9.1 (can't sell as the rubbish finish has come away from the underside and is bubbling around the drive units)

Wharfedale Diamond 8.3+ (quite like them still and don't have the boxes so selling would be a pain)

Wharfedale Diamond 10.4 (again quite like them, but the silver surrounds are coming away from around the drive units - more poor build quality from Wharfedale and the reason I won't buy another product from them)

A Yamaha FM tuner

Several CD players - Marantz CD63SE (makes a strange chuffing sound with some discs); Philips CD840; Rotel RCD965BX; NAD C521BEE

One or two other bits, nothing particularly amazing.

I tend to move things on pretty quickly.

I currently only have a pair of MA R90HD going unused. They are officially up for sale, but I'm in no rush, as I might find a use for them.

also a few cables as you never know.

I didn't mention cables etc, on the basis that we'd all have silly amounts of them somewhere.

Saying that, I think matthewpiano has more spare hi-fi gear than I have spare cables.

Not getting used currently:

Denon DRM-07(?) mini system (cd changer broken so unsellable)
Arcam Alpha 2 (at a friend's)
Denon TU-260L Mk2
Yamaha DSP-AX620
Wharfedale Diamond 9.1
Audioengine N22 and P5
Some Eltax mini speaker things
Fubar IV DAC/headphone amp (somewhere)
A large bag of cables.

A pair of Mordaunt Short MS20i Pearl Edition speakers (light wood finish) boxed and mint. (Never going to be economic to sell them - or even give them away - so kept as spares just in case.)

JPW Sonatas in impeccable condition and original packaging (brand new tweeters too) awaiting completion of a second system in a spare room.

Bag of cables. I must get the Chord Chrysalis and Crimson RCA - DIN ones on ebay one day. (Not needed since selling Naim stuff and Beresford DAC.) They'll probably get more than the MS20is and be a lot cheaper to post.

Various bits of old turntable related knick-knacks in a small box (like Shure scales and Dual CS-505 cartridge alignment jigs and carbon fibre brush and an old Nagaoka MP11 etc.)

I've sold all of the hifi equipment that I don't use.

Although I still have a pair of Westone UM1 earphones in the draw that I hardly ever use. I've used them twice over the past two years when it was raining heavily and I didn't want to risk damaging the £270 Westone UM3x earphones which I use everyday.

This almost sounds like a confessional ... some of us have been very guilty of hoarding it seems ...

Over the years I have been making a few strategic purchases of ex-dem and end-of line gear to make up several systems for different rooms and moods. Some are boxed up still, and some unconnected, so they might as well be in the attic.

I hereby confess:

Waiting to be connected : Yamaha NPS2000, AA Paganini II CD, Unison Preludio, Klipsch Heresy II

In their boxes - Another SBT, Leema Pulse II, Leema Xone, Chordette Gem, SF Toy, Teac A-H01, Castle Knight 1

I am still debating over whether to sell the AA Paganini ... I'd ask matthewpiano to make me an offer, but it seems he is inundated with CD players already ;)

I list it all as legacy in my signature:

Rotel-RA820 - kept in case I can use it in the study

Wharfedale Diamond 1 - kept to accompany the Rotel

Sony ST-313L - kept with the aim of using the AM output to record meteor showers

Akai HX-R44 - kept in the hope of transferring some old cassettes to digital

Garrard GT35P - lent to a friend,

Philips CD104 - perhaps the only item that I could sell, but I would be lucky to find a buyer. It was considered top of the range in the early days of CD, because it was 14bits, in the days when other CD players used less. It is amusing to remember those days when hifi buffs said 14bits was great, and compare it to todays debate over the need for 24bits rather than just 16bits.

I had an iPod touch laying around for ages after I bought my iPhone but did eventually sell it. I am quite active on eBay, so I do sell things on. Had a spare Blu-ray player for a while, but sold it. I might buy a second one again if I can find the right deal. A 91 Pioneer would be nice!

I got a Denon UD-M30 that does not get used, when I looked on eBay it was only selling for £50 so hardly seemed worth selling!
