What happened to HDMusic CDs

Can anyone tell me how high definition cds and the supporting players/speakers systems are doing, or has this died a death.

Readily available on Amazon, but going for nothing less than £20.

Don't know about supporting equipment though. As far as I know able to play on any CDP.

HDCD is 20 bit; the disks also play on regular CD-players, but then of course at 16 bit.

I think the attention has gone to lesser bits which imo give a very good sound! Conversion has gottten better over the years e.g. going from "MP3" to "AAC". To me, even with my good set of equipment, it sounds good enough for a highly enjoyable listen!
