I should Probably mention I am running through Tannoy signature revolution speakers with only the need for 5:1 (maybe 7:1 for the future)

If music is a important look at Arcam AVR 400 or AVR 500 (but be aware of past problems).

Until other manufacturers catch up with their ranges, the best two are going to be the Arcam AVR400 or Pioneer SCLX83. Onkyo and Marantz should also be considered.

With the Tannoy's I would strongly urge a listen to the Marantz SR7005. We have put the majority of Tannoy systems with that amp over the last few months. The LX83 was our previous recommendation but the Marantz just edges it on 2ch.

Hi The Rooster

Yamaha's RX-V3067 is also worth a look as it works well with the Tannoy speakers :) Or if you can wait another month or so then Yamaha's new Aventage range of AV receivers is due to be launched. The Aventage RX-A2010 at £1500 or if budget allows the RX-A3010 at £2000 look very promising and are also worth serious consideration

All the best
