Hi there,

So I have some MA BX2s that say they are 8 omhs and I'm looking at buying an Onkyo 608 which runs a 6 omhs.

Will the difference in omhs be an issue and if so what other amp would you recommend given the Onkyo 608 is a bargin at £299 at the link below? £300 is about my budget too so this amp sounds a decent bit of kit for the price!!

Thanks,

Dan

The 608 will run the BX2s no problem, manufacturers quote 6ohms ratings sometimes to make the watts look higher, for example if this is rated at 160w at 6 ohms, you will find it will be around 140w at 8ohms.

You'll get a Yamaha RXV667 for your budget. That would be my choice. Also Marantz + MA is good.

Thanks Guys for the advice.

In my naivety with this (so far) can you state some reasons the Yamaha RXV667 or Marantz would be better than the Onkyo 608 as the Onkyo does seem to be the best for the money and full of features?

Only that Yamaha are known to match well wit MA speakers, and IMO equipment matching is a very important part of picking equipment.
