What amp to pair with neat motive 2 speakers

Hello,

I am setting up my home stereo and getting some neat motive 2. My dealer is suggesting pairing them with cambridge audio 851a amp.

What do you think? Do i need such a powerful and expensive amp?

He is even suggesting i get the Combo 851c as well.

i have a fairly big room, and listen to mostly latin and classical.

Must be some dealer suggesting a product he doesn't carry ...

Cambridge Audio make lovely amplifiers higher up in their portfolio. Purely on value for facilities you probably would look at spending twice as much to get something equivelant in hifi. The usual suggestion would probably be to get a Naim.

I would say naim amps. Once had a demo of the neat's with naim amp match made in heaven. But like most will tell u, its always best to audition at home if possible.

When I had mine I ran them with a NAD C320BEE and my Marantz CR603

the NAD I bought 2nd hand from eBay for about £90 and it was a superb match. Only 50wpc but the Neats are a very easy drive! The Marantz also ran them susuperbly

Personally I think the likes of a NAD C326BEE or Marantz PM6004 would run them with no issues...
